Day 1
Transfer from Airport to hotel, Meet and greet dinner, Hotel accommodation. Day spent at your own leisure.
Day
2
From Phnom Penh, we ride off road along the Mekong River to Kompong Cham where we stop fro lunch. After lunch we continue riding along the river through Cham fishing villages and stop at Wat Hanchey temple. From there it's through rubber plantations to the hilltop temple of Wat Santuk and overnight in Kompong Thom
Day 3
Leaving Kompong Thom, we hit the red dirt road towards Phnom Daik village. The ride then steps up a gear as we take the sandy ox cart trail to the remote jungle temple of Preah Kahn, where we stay overnight in a local village.
Day 4
We leave Preah Kahn and hit the sand again to Boueng Melea, passing a number of Angkorian bridges along the way. From there we once again ride red dirt roads to the pyramid temple of Koh Ker, which only became accessible in the early 2000's.
Day 5
After exploring Koh Ker, we continue through the forests to the foot of Preah Vihear Mountain on the Thai border. After a short steep hillclimb, we spend the afternoon with a well deserved rest, before staying the night at the guesthouse on the top of Preah Vihear Mountain (those whop would prefer more comfort in hotel accommodation can continue to Anlong Veng on this day)
Day 6
We descend Preah Vihear Mountain and follow the Dangrek Mountains west
along the Thai-Cambodian border to Anlong Veng, previously home to the
likes of Khieu Samphan, Ta Mok and 'Brother Number One', Pol Pot. We then continue
on red dirt along the Thai border to a homestay near Banteay Chhmar temple.
Day 7
We begin the day exploring the Angkor era ruins of Banteay Chmar. This
monument features the smiling four-faced towers made famous by the Bayon
temple in Siem reap, but has sadly suffered from the smuggling of Khmer
antiquities across the border. After exploring these serene, jungle-strewn
remains, we hit the road again via Sisophon for a night in Battambang.
Day 8
Battambang is Cambodia's second largest 'city'(we use the term lightly!) and is home to some of the best preserved
French architecture in the country and some of the warmest and friendliest
locals. We spend a laidback day riding through picturesque rice fields and villages
of stilted houses to the hill of Phnom Sampeau for a stunning view of
Battambang province. Cambodia's dark history is revealed here by the skulls
and bones of "Killing Cave" victims. It also features a working
Buddhist pagoda and numerous cave shrines. From Phnom Sampeau we continue
to the 11th century hilltop temple of Phnom Banan. After climbing the
steps to the top, we relax in this peaceful location and take in more
great views. Visits to Kompong Poy Reservoir, Ek Phnom Temple and riverside villages are also options in Battambang.
Day 9
After 6 days of off roading it's time to hit the tarmac as we ride back to Phnom Penh for a farewell dinner
Day 10
End of Tour. Day spent at your own leisure and transfer from hotel to airport.
